The NEW Year!!

Wow! So sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy....getting to know someone who has become very special to me.

From about Jan 19 - Feb 3 I was singing this song, that I learned in high school choir, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Yep, you guessed it I was falling in love (but chances are you already knew that cuz I just LOVE talking about him)!!

Then later in February Sarrahe slept over and we watched Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella, with Brandy and this song was stuck for the next little while.

Here's THE (OUR) story...

I joined eharmony in the winter and connected with Norman over the New Year. We emailed for three weeks before deciding to meet in person ON Jan 23, 2010; at The Sleepless Goat. It went so well we decided to go skating and have since decided that was our first date, for anniversary purposes, LOL!! We have been in daily contact since then.

I want to tell you about him: He is taller than me! Norman loves to swing dance, he's been dancing with the Queen's Swing Club for 9 years and is one of their best leads. He can cook - the first thing he made me was soup when I was sick, and then on Valentine's Day he made Maple and Soya Sauce Glazed Salmon!!

We had similar upbringings with both our mom's teaching music, specifically piano; having a huge garden; doing loads of canning and also sewing many of our clothes. We enjoy going to church together and having our own times of worship together....with Norman playing guitar.

His faith is inspiring to me and we plan on spending the rest of our lives together.

I am sooo in love and I just wanted to share my joy with you.

Catching Up....

Oh wow, I've been so busy with life that I haven't been here to share the songs I have thought about in the last little while, so here they are. I hope you enjoy!!

In November

This worship song reverberated in my heart and mind for several weeks.

-especially the chorus "You're unchangable, You're shakable, You're unstoppable, That's what you are"

In December

I've been listening to Christmas music and was reminded of songs I sang in my highschool choir.
This one was a favorite in highschool:

I seem to have been wondering A LOT this year what Mary felt and wondered about so this song has been one I have listened to frequently. I have a CD recording which is slow like this one even though the video quality is not great.

I also watched Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella this month and the song from it which I've found myself singing is this one:

I guess I spoke too soon.....

I lost a battle I had, with the addiction I'm struggling with, after my last post, here's a song I was reminded of today as I cried out to God for strength to face the next battle.

Beautiful Grace

I was also reminded of this scripture.... Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Please continue to pray for me that I would look to God and be able to say, "HE set me free what a beautiful grace"

Riding the Storm

I have been taking a course at settingcaptivesfree.com and a recent lesson reminded me of this song which describes how I'm feeling.

Go And Sin No More

The war with this addiction is not over but I have won each battle I have faced since I started on my freedom journey and the only way that this has been accomplished is by focusing on the cross.

Show Me the Cross

These two songs have been favorites of my throughout my life and they have just taken deeper hold in my heart.

Share in my joy and freedom with me!!!

I WILL Praise YOU in These Storms

This song by Casting Crowns has been ministering to my heart for a few days and I can't stop singing it.

Praise You In The Storm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHdcyue0bSw

A financial storm has overwhelmed me and the shock to my system was magnified because the day before I understood the severity of the storm I was richly blessed.

I lent someone money in June that I knew I needed to pay a bill coming due in July and they promised to get it to me the next month and they still haven't and I need to pay it. Oh am I mad! I got wiser from this but it doesn't help me pay it. Then I decided I'd make it happen without getting the money back and so I'm just feeling like I'm in a storm.

This song started reverberating in my heart and mind and THEN....

I've been reading Joyce Meyer's Lord Heal My Hurts. Well, it's actually a Bible Study Workbook and God convicted me of an addictive behaviour, my accountability partners told me. And the struggle is on! But God is faithful and I WILL BE healed because I believe HIS word.

HE...IS...WITH....ME! And I praise Him for helping me get through THEM to the other side.

My Inspiration

Music speaks to my heart and helps me make sense of things I'm thinking about and feeling.

Cora took me to THE SOUND OF MUSIC Saturday August 8th at Princess of Wales Theatre in Downtown Toronto. This is the song that spoke to me the most. In this stage version the Mother Abess sang it to Maria when she ran to the abbey to escape from the realization that she was falling in love with the Captain.

I haven't been able to find a YouTube Version that I like so here are just the lyrics to:

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAION

Climb every mountain, search high and low
Follow every by way, every path you know
Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream
A dream that will need, all the love you can give
Everyday of your life, for as long as you live
Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream
A dream that will need, all the love you can give
Everyday of your life, for as long as you live
Climb every mountain, ford every stream
Follow every rainbow, till you find your... dream...

This is my quest! This is my dream! Music NEEDS to be part of it and keeping this blog will share it with you and help me remember why and when songs touched my heart and SOUL.

Thanks for sharing my music journey with me. It means so much to my heart!

A New Chapter.....

I didn't know the name of this song till Cora and I heard it in the car on the way to Toronto on Friday August 7th. She said it was her favorite song.

Unwritten - Tasha Bedingfield
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lFXy5bIiSA&feature=fvsr

I've heard it on the radio before but not understood all the words. I LOVE IT!!

especially the chorus....

"Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
.......
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is when your book begins
The rest is still unwritten"
